It literally took me about three tries over the course of two days to actually see the Prince of Tennis movie. On Saturday, I ended up checking the movie site and seeing that there was only about an hour and a half to spare before the last showing of the day started. It takes about an hour just to get to the theater.

Today, I ended up lagging a bit, then hurrying like mad to get to the theater on time. When I got there, I found that 1) the movie had started 20 minutes previous, and 2) I had to change my advance ticket for an actual ticket with seat assignment. There also happened to be a long line at the ticket counter because the Da Vinci Code had started yesterday. Mind you that this was after I bought the popcorn.

Luckily it turned out that there was another show in about two hours, which I realized that I could have probably gotten to on time yesterday. I had um... somehow gotten terribly mixed up about the times in a terribly horrible fashion. It involved vast amounts of number transposition, for I checked and rechecked the times repeatedly.

I went to go exchange my ticket, then walked out to finish my popcorn. I killed the time by going shopping.

When I got back, I found that when I asked the clerk for a ticket to the "next" showing, she scheduled me one for the 2:30 showing. (I bought the ticket at about 2:55.) The ushers who were taking tickets at the door had a brief consultation with someone over the walkie talkie, and then said that there was no one scheduled for the two seats at the end of the last row of the theater. If there's still free space when the movie starts, I could move forward. -___-;;

It turns out that the theater couldn't have been more than a third full, so I moved into a faily nice seat near the middle in the next to last row. I could have moved further forward, but it was stadium seating and it wasn't worth the trouble.

I thought the movie itself was pretty funny, though it wouldn't make sense to anyone who hadn't already read/watched the entire series up to the Hyoutei arc. They also added a bit of gratuitous angst, but that wasn't very important.

I don't think the casting was as good as the musicals, but the Ryoma they have was spot on as far as attitude was concerned. Instead of Sakuno, they had some dumbmute but not really because it's all psychological though they never explain why exactly girl, who has the kanji for "sound" in her name. Most of the characters on the other teams were unrecognizeable for lack of trademark hair cuts, so you could only tell who was who by verbal clues, who was playing in what match, or accessories. Some of them did ressemble, if not jr highschool boys, then high school boys at least.

The tennis involved a lot of sparks and cheesy matrix like special effects. The end result was very special. I think I might need to go see it twice.

Also, they made Nanjirou less perverted, older, and more the most humiliating parent ever. I think he was my Favoritest performance in the entire movie. Seriously, they changed things so Nanjirou was more awesome. Not sure how, but they did. The actor they cast wouldn't work as "total pervert," (though he did do the reading playboys while ringing bell with foot thing-it wasn't a playboy magazine, but the rabbit logo was clearly visible,) but he was spot on for aggrovating old man.

Playing spot the product placement was fun, fun, fun. (And I know how totally necessary it is in a movie about tennis because in tennis, there is very much product placement.) Was not able to find Konomi-sensei. ;___;

The most important thing about the movie EVER is that when you get a close up of Atobe's school uniform, you can see that his shirt had some sort of flower print weave woven into it. If Fuji did more, that would also be very important, but he didn't really do anything outside of his match with Jirou (who was a bit cute, but meaner than he should have been.) There was someone on Hyotei with different pants (aside from the gratuitous angst causing guy who replaced the non-existant Hiyoshi,) but I didn't think to check until the handshakes, and with the way they filmed it, I couldnt' tell who was wearing them.

Did you know that they classified Tenipuri as an art film? No really. I picked up a movie schedule and they had a little logo on it saying "Special Art Selection." XD

The Death Note movie trailer is looks really gorgeous on screen and I hope to God that the roadshow hits Kyoto before I leave. Or I'll go to Osaka to see it, but I like the local theater. >>;;

(My reaction was something along the lines of "A murder mystery? How interesting. Wait a minute, that looks vaguely familiar...Death Note!" at about the same time they flashed the title on the screen.)

Does any one want a Death Note flier? It's just like the movie poster, except smaller. It's printed on surprisingly heavy paper. *grabbed a few*

Speaking of "Death Note," today's random doujinshii purchase revolved around the existance of something called a "Cos Note."

"In other words, if you were to write "Fuji wearing a ninja costume" in this notebook like this...if you do that...."

The other one was an Athrun/Cagalli (or rather Cagalli/Athrun) mini-anthology/temporary team up that had a REALLY SHINY COVER. *___* Seriously, it's some sort of stars cellophane embedded onto the cover- and I know it's cellophane because when I opened it I found that the title was a cut out! It's very shiny! It also has maid cosplay as well! And tie me up sex! Maid cosplay AND Bondage sex both in the first story! Athrun is the one who gets tied up! And put in both the French and Victorian maid outfit! (We know that it's a Victorian maid outfit because it's identical to Emma's, and she is a Victorian maid!) ALSO, the title of this particular piece is "I'm not a Homo!" >DDDDDDDDDDDD

So yeah, that collective definitely believes that Cagalli tops. They make a very convincing argument.

Also, I got my Sony Anime Music Festa tickets for the Bleach/Gintama and エウレカセブン/FMA/Blood+/Gundam Seed&Seed Destiny stages. The line up looks promising.
