Dec. 15th, 2005 10:46 pmYesterday's presentations ran over by an hour because most people didn't understand the time limit.
Mine was one of the shorter ones because I was specifically told to keep it under five minutes.
(My presentation also happened to be on "kotowaza," which I illustrated using pictures I drew with cray pas. I'll probably take a few cell phone photos later.)
After a point, you start getting bored- most peope chose serious topics that required a lot of aditional vocabulary. As I have trouble trying to decipher what my classmates say when speaking normally (because of pacing and accents,) it was even more difficult when I had to match it up with a list of vocabulary words. (It's fair to say that because I don't think my classmates understand what I say half of the time either. I tend to speak quickly...I'm not sure if I went into kindergarten-teacher-voice-mode for this, but I might have.) The smart people snuck out early- the thing lasted over 4 hours. I chose my seat based on where it was warmest and ended up stuck in the back corner with no clear way to the door and had no graceful out. Also, I was sitting next to all of the teachers. ^^;; I amused my self by drawing pictures in a random sketchbook and folding very small cranes. (At one point one of the teachers tapped the table and went "Draw me! :D" At another, I had a haiku I wrote a while back fixed. "It's okay to have six syllables sometimes, but it needs a season." "I thought that 'years passing' implied New Years?" "It could also be birthdays." The haiku is better now.)
I suddenly started my period yesterday, and it was a bit heavy before I was able to get a pad in place. Which meant walking around with a jacket tied around my waist for the rest of the day. This was, of course, before my presentation. >>;;
Riding a bike home without sitting down is really interesting. I can manage for a while, but not being able to sit at all is quite difficult.
Tonight's dinner was sausages dipped in modified pancake batter and deep fried. After the first one (which didn't have enough mix,) which I did as a test, they all turned out really well! >3
I'll probably have to do this again. ♥
