Ahahaha, so that's why I've been seeing that stupid commercial. (And that's also why my favorite soup line is such delicious goodness. I knew MSG pops up in a lot of places. Thank you for the clarification, Colbert Report! :D)

In other, very related news, I need to convince Dad that we should make Chex Mix this year. 8D

We put MSG in our Chex mix. That is why our Chex Mix is the best recipe I've ever tried. That, and at least a pound of butter. (The "official" recipe is alright, but it really can't compare to Grandma's recipe. They call that stuff "Aji-no-Moto" for a reason.)

...although I think Dad will probably say no, due to the aforementioned butter and the rather disreputable state that the kitchen is currently in.

I'm one of the 5% of people who have a bad reaction to MSG. I get a fever and break out in hives. It sucks because I hear MSG is wonderful. :(

That really sucks. MSG doesn't really have a taste, but it definitely adds a sort of depth of flavor to foods.
On the other hand, the first time I made chex mix, Dad didn't tell me what exactly it was, only to not eat it on it's own, because it's poisonous like that....or was he talking about cream of tartar?

Hives....well, that just sucks. DX (I'm on good terms with my dermatologist for a reason.)

Oddly enough, I got home today to see a note from Mom on the fridge.

"Microwave not working. :("

They must be cosmic microwave twins.

(Honestly? The thing lasted for about five years, including the year I was in Japan when you had that asshat for a roommate and the year we lived with the boys. It's perfectly respectable for a really cheap microwave....although the one that just died over here is probably older than my kid brother.

By the way, I think you guys still owe me for the washer/drier. I keep forgetting.)

...that is kind of amazing.

(IIRC I put in my chunk of money back when we bought them/the couch. idk about anybody else though.)

I was stunned.

(If I recall correctly, the chunk of money you paid paid for about a third of the couch, but I covered the entirety of the washer/drier and the repairs to it myself.)

(I remember putting in $100, I think. which I think was more than a third of the couch but idk? Either way, actual numbers would be kind of helpful if you want anything more to come of this than both of us going "OH YEAH HUH" and forgetting about it again.)

(I don't recall the exact breakdown of the couch, although I'm pretty sure the cost of the set ended up being $250. It might be in our backlogs somewhere.

The washer/drier set was $250 as well, and I or rather my aunt covered the full amount. Add in calling that guy in and the hose. I think the repairs were ~$50 for the house call, plus ~$23 for the um...fuse thingie- the total was somewhere in the 70's, I think, and then the hose + replacement faucet thing because Daniel broke the old one came out to about ....somewhere between $10 and $15, so that part was a bit negligible.)

I remember $250 for the couch set too, so that's probably right.

If we call that part $15, it comes out to $147 when split four ways. So I should still owe you $47, by that math?

That sounds about right.

The problem is that the part I can't remember is what part Gen and Crys paid towards the couch. (I put in something towards that too, but I don't remember how much of that was mine. I mentally split the purchases and only bothered with the cost breakdown of the washer/drier set, for some reason.)

....also, because I have to do all this math, you're now morally obliged to give me a personal opinion. I commissioned a family portrait from the artist who drew me this. I'm planning to print it and have it matted, but do you think I should bother to have it framed? Or should I just load it onto that digital picture frame that my parents have for some reason and never use?

Ohhhh. Well, in that case, idk, I only remember what I'd put in. Ask them if they remember, I guess? D:

I'd say it depends on many important factors, such as 1) how much you are in love with the finished result, 2) how good a deal you could theoretically get on framing, 3) whether there is any chance that anything else might get used in the digital frame, and 4) whether the digital frame looks good with the finished picture.
