My grand adventure was basically a trip to the bank, but it was the first time that I set up an account by myself, so I was fairly proud of me. I'm not entirely finished, as I need to set up direct deposit, but my checking's APY is higher than most of the cd's I was scoping out. It's a variable rate, but it's nice to have the flexibility available to me. I also got a free collie plushie, which needs a new name, stat. (It's previous name was "Alex," as it's the banks....stupid mascot. Don't get me wrong, it's a cute dog, but it's also a long and rather personal story.)
(But that still didn't stop me from asking for the free stuffed animal, which was better than the free tool kit, yet not as cool as the free ipod shuffles they were handing out this summer. On the other hand, I already have an ipod and they're going to credit $25 to my account as a bonus for setting up direct deposit. \o/)
And then I went to the mall and went to Claires, Goth Claires, Shirokiya, GameStop, talked to people in random kiosks, the food court, and um...I forget it's name and also the hat shop! Despite this, all I bought was a smoothie! Without having to call on any external consciences! (All three Death Note movies + the soundtrack for $40 at Book Off was tempting, but I realized that I was too lazy to set up my PS2 just to watch them and I already did all of my impulse buying at threadless this week.)
New headphones held up well- they provided a clear supply of background music, and helped drown out some noise, while still allowing me to function. I crossed several streets, including a stretch where the sidewalk was under construction. Seeing as I am currently not dead, I have to conclude that the experiment was a success. (I ended up having to adjust them constantly throughout the day, but that was because I kept running into situations where I had to speak with people, horror of horrors.)
