I adore tapioca. It's almost impossible to get pudding the way I like it- a gigantic mass of tapioca held together by pudding used as a glue. There was only one place that had it, and it closed down for family reasons. (None of the kids wanted to run the restaurant, even though it was practically a fixture.)
The place where I got it from, on the other hand, always seems to make me feel sick afterwards. I don't know what does it, but I was already sick to my stomach to begin with- and then I made the mistake to order dinner. (But everyone else loves it, so I always go too.)
Apparently there used to be a brand of pudding that came in industrial sized cans that was kind of like that, but that was something that my mom remembered from when she was little. I should look into making it myself, as I adore the stuff.
Honestly, I don't know what it is. People may say, I don't know, MSG or something, but with the backlash against it these days. (My family puts MSG in our holiday chex mix. We make amazing chex mix.)
YOU GUYS DO TOO? The MSG, I mean. Furikake chex mixes usually tend to be sweet, at least, the one's I've tried tend to be. (You'd think that with the furikake and all, they'd be saltier, but go figure.)
Furikake+Popcorn, however. Mine never coats as well as I wish it would. *____*
Oooh, curry. I need to dig through my luggage to see if I have curry roux, as last I've checked, our local supermarket doesn't. (I'd also love for House brand stew roux, as I love certain kinds of beef stew, but I've found a recipe that I can live with. It's not the same, but I can live with it.)
The only time I get it is when it's pre-packaged, commercially, so by the time it get's to you, it's rather lackluster.
I love it. You can't sneak it into theaters as well as kakimochi, so you can't really get it to stick well at all. There's this one brand...hurricane, I think? Anyway, it sells a package that contains furikake, kakimochi, some sort of butter sauce, microwave popcorn, and a bag to shake it in, but that's kind of expensive. The only way I can see is to use lots of butter, but if you're doing it with microwave popcorn...all of the furikake sticks to the bag. ;___;
I love the kind that my family makes- it's grandma's recipe, but we haven't done it in years. ;_____;
There's more butter in it than I care to think about, but it's really, really nice. Especially the Cheerios that sink to the bottom and soak up all the butter. 8]
I make this pilaf that has a lot of butter in it as well. I tried to cut down this time because I was feeling sick, but it really took out a lot of the flavor. ;__;
I've been trying to improve my eating habits, and it actually feels really good to be eating vegetables instead of living off the pasta bar (moving out of the dorms helped quite a bit :'D ), but man, some things just aren't negotiable.
I lost a LOT of weight since the beginning of the year, but it's mostly because I don't eat as much and not really because I eat a whole lot better. I've always loved fruits and vegetables though. And I live in SoCal where produce is relatively cheap, hooray!
There was this one time in high school, where I took a one week cooking course because it would raise my grade a whole increment (my high school was cheap like that.) I found out exactly what went into an alfredo sauce- from a mix, mind, but I do recall a lot of butter. I've felt guilty about eating it every time since, but I love alfredo sauce. >>;;
I want to take a cooking class sort of. Just for improvement of survival skills if nothing else. XDD Oh god, alfredo sauces are the embodiment of unhealthy. I love them too though!! I want to go back to Macaroni Grill so I can draw on their tablecloth and eat their seafood alfredo pasta...

a;skgasdf;lak Furikake and popcorn *______________*
I don't know how to make it stick very well either XD
