Ask me and I'll tell you three facts about any character. Mine, someone elses, it doesn't matter. They may or may not be true, but I definitely believe them.
1) Kiki is convinced that the reason that she doesn't have any siblings is that her parents decided that they couldn't match her perfection a second time. She doesn't mind, it means she can monopolize whatever attention they can give.
2) Kiki's parents cheat on each other while they're apart, but are disgustingly affectionate when they are together. It's okay, she thinks, because neither of them cheat with the same person regularly. It's these kinds of understandings that allow the family to function.
3) She doesn't spend money like water, but rather makes extravagent purchases in small, semi-controlled sprees. Because she really does need that Aibo, even if it's a dog.
1) When she's out clubbing with friends, (not drinking, but clubbing - in her mind, there is a distinct difference in her mind) she'll drop the polite distance that she usually keeps between herself and the rest of the world. It isn't because because of the alcohol, but rather because there isn't anyone there that gives a damn about who she is, who will remember her in the morning.
2) When she goes out drinking, (it's always out, she doesn't drink at home, doesn't keep alcohol in the house, most of the time) it's with friends. If it must be alone, she always visits the same bar. It's a little out of her way, but it's near a hotel, and if she can't find someone to spend the night with, or just wants to sleep, well, that's what credit cards are for. The bartender knows her name; she's been going there for years. To her, it's a place inexorably linked to sadness.
3) Part of the reason they had hit it off: he took her out for coffee and she was too embarassed to order it the way that she usually took it. So there was no reason to leave the table, they just sat there and talked. As it turned out, he had done the exact same thing. She gave him her phone number.

3) Kelyn's fond of math.
