Dec. 25th, 2009 10:19 pmChristmas dinner was at a Chinese restaurant again- I'm still a little sick, but it was so completely worth leaving the house. We had peking duck (♥♥♥) and a whole steamed parrot fish. I ate the eyeballs and kid brothers picked the bones clean.
The gifts were pretty much the usual- I came out with a couple of really cute pairs of earrings..okay, cute is a bit of an overstatement. One was cute (simply Vera) and the other was this um... thing by Betsey Johnson that involved pink teddy bears. It actually worked out really well with my hair, because all you can see was a flash of pink and a bit of sparkle. I also got a necklace I really wanted.
Santa brought each of us a pair of ear buds, but while the boys got these nifty little finger flashlights, he brought me a tin of mints. (Note: I hate mint. I'm trying to train myself to tolerate it, though.) The mint tin contains a nice little mirror, so maybe I can empty it and put cinnamon candies in later, or konpeito. It's to small to fit my ginger altoids. ;__; (I will continue to believe in Santa, as long as he continues to bring me presents. I'm a firm believer in more stuff.)
Oh, and I also got mastering the art of French cooking, which I had really wanted. (The other cookbook that I really want is ANYTHING BY THOMAS KELLER, but I wanted the Julia Child one since the Vanity Fair article a while back. Apparently she explains things really well.)
Incidentally, while I haven't checked to see of my Micheal Penn cd is a music purchase that Dad approves of (which would bring my grand total up to two,) he apparently likes the Vanity Fair subscription I bought myself. As for my Esquire subscription, well, he thinks it used to be better 30 or so years ago.
