[personal profile] rhyme
On my way to school today, I stepped over a cluster of small blue flowers.

I have always been fond of small blue flowers, ever since my father returned from a business trip with a present for Mummy. It was a necklace, silver, with a small framed pendant, a single flower, small and blue. A forget-me-not.

She doesn't wear it, and I've never worn it, but I have always loved the necklace very much. Small blue flowers, so that you don't forget me.

Some years later, my aunt, who had met my father while he was on the trip, told me that she had revisited the shop to get me one as well. But the artist had already retired.

(I still covet the necklace, but I probably wouldn't were it either. It's at some odd level at the high end of casual, but, usually, neither of us takes the time to wear necklaces casually.)

I don't know what kind of the flowers the ones today were, but they reminded me of that.

My omiyage turned out to be a pair of socks with Kokopelli on them. Or maybe that was a different trip. I don't know, I never wore them.

My Dad is awesome.

Gifts from my Dad are either awesome or kind of confusing, but the same can be said for most presents that get given in my family.
