Actually, Kyoto Station is simply gorgeous. If armed with a digital camera, I could probably spend all day taking photos of it. Or at least, half of one.
I am also of the opinion that castles are more beautiful when viewed at night, with spot lighting that makes the walls glow.
Went to a volunteer orientation-type seminar. It's for a project that will involve making maps in English for tourists (and something to do with Elementary school students, but that's a separate team.) They were making a plea for exchange students to come and help them out, but it turns out that I was the only one that showed up. It would have been more effective if they had told us during the mandatory class- not everyone takes those electives.
They translated half of the talk, almost entirely for my sake, but after a while they stopped- it really takes up too much time. I actually paid attention for the epilectic seizure inducing powerpoint presentation, but when they switched speakers and began to only have text, I started to fall asleep. (In my defense, I was only running on about 3 hours worth and my schedule for the hole week was eccentric- I didn't sleep at all on Sunday night.) It was kind of embarassing, because the room was small enough for it to be easily noticed.
The elementary school kids project seems a bit more interesting, though I really ought to work on the English writing side.
Afterwards, there were self introductions, in English (again, almost entirely for my sake) which made it take about twice as long as the other side.
One of the volunteer center guys: I already introduced myself before, but since you were sleeping...
