rhymeI've just got back from a trip to the emergency room.
No seriously. There's this half-exposed nail at the edge of the living room carpet, and I always forget it's there until I step on it. Usually, I don't step on it very hard, but today there was blood. Kind of a lot of it.
My parent's reaction was "You should get a tetanus shot. Now."
Which was how dad ended up driving me to the hospital, as we couldn't remember when my last tetanus vaccine was.
The emergency room itself was less hectic then I thought- the whole affair was less than an hour. There were a few funny things, though.
First, that it was mostly very young children. (It was about 10 at night, mind. Otherwise I'd be bugging my primary care physician.)
Second, that there was a aquarium in the waiting room, which had both a little clown fish, and a fish that looked like Dora. This is significant, because the tv in the waiting room was stuck on the title screen from Finding Nemo, which consisted of Dora and the daddy clown fish whose name I don't remember asking the viewer to either remove the disc or just fucking choose something already.
Third, the rooms inside the emergency room are cramped. Put it this way. Think of the size of a normal, two bed hospital room. Think of a room slightly smaller. And then picture that room divided by curtains into four parts. There were these kind of chair things, kind of the size of a dentist's chair, and the curtains were slightly larger than the chairs.
Also, every room has a tv. Tuned to the Disney channel. I can tell this, because although the curtain blocks me from tv in my room, the lips moving on the screen across the hall are synced, and I can recognize Disney channel programming when I hear it. Not voluntarily, mind.
So um, I got my shot and it didn't hurt like I heard it would, so perhaps it just hasn't kicked in yet?
