Random revelation because I was bored and I started looking through the
tcg_exchange decks for updates:
Part of the reason that Abe was so upset with Mizutani because that was one of the most retarded ways to miss a fly ball possible.
In sports, you're generally trained that it's better to overshoot backwards than forwards, because if you should misjudge, then it's much easier to run forward than to backpedal. Mizutani had more than enough room to give himself the space, and, had he done so, he'd probably have been able to make the catch. It wouldn't be elegant but it would be doable.
