she tells me stuff on the golf course.

Claire wanted to golf. I said no.
Claire told me about her car and I was like, wtf, you have a motorcycle, isn't that enough. She claims she sold it, but no Claire, I don't think your parents bought you a new sports car in an attempt to lure you back into the fold. And you most definitely didn't sleep with the guy who delivered it.
1. The first thing she did was buy a motorcycle.
2. She knows how to use a cigarette holder. She doesn't carry one, but. she does keep one in her bedroom dresser. It's something she keeps mostly because she likes the feel of it in her hands, although it doesn't see much work.
3. Zippo lighter: a gift from her brother who taught her to smoke- it's the reason she uses an unusually masculine brand. She used to carry mints, to make up for the favor.
4. Her key chain is a portable ashtray, for emergency purposes. She doesn't approve of litter.
5. Claire learned to shoot while on vacation in Hawaii. She had been shopping in Waikiki, when she came across an unexpected flight of stairs, right on the main road. The jacket she ended up buying didn't fit very well, but she still enjoyed the way it reminded her of that afternoon- she hadn't had the chance to sneak back until the next trip.
6. Claire has the same kinds of tiny cups that the hosts of cooking shows use- before she makes anything, she always does the measurements and places them in, emptying the cups in turn. She's considering abandoning them for a digital kitchen scale, but is unsure about whether it would be worth the bother.
7. The seasonings, however, she adds by feel.
8. Claire is very, very particular about the way she wants her paperwork filled out, and even more so about the way it is filed.
9. Claire is extremely skilled at pen twirling.
10. She still keeps in touch with her brother, although she hasn't spoken to her parents in years. They exchange emails occasionally, mostly talking about inconsequential things. She hasn't told him about her dead partner, but on the other hand, she found out about his marriage through an announcement in the newspaper.
11. She thinks she ought to be the cool aunt, but that would require getting in touch with her family. So she contents herself by sending money at appropriate intervals and stalking her inbox for pictures of her niece. The girl is 5, but Claire hasn't met her in person yet.
12. Claire hates elevators. Her apartment's on the 7th floor, but she takes the stairs, more often than not.
13. This is how to lock the door to Claire's apartment. First, you lock the door. Then, you unlock the door, then re-lock it. Repeat until you feel secure that the door is, in fact, locked.
14. Claire has to get a distressingly large portion of her wardrobe either custom-made or through catalogs. While she does know of several tailoring shops that work for reasonable prices, the fact that her breasts are worthy of appreciation does not mean that she appreciates the extra expense they give her. Yes, they are real. No, you may not check yourself. The one thing about her past that Claire really misses being able to shop in places where clothing sizes accommodate her body type.
15. She has a sewing machine and she knows how to use it.
16. During high school, Claire played tennis, ran track, and was rather impressive at diving. She still keeps a few tennis balls around her apartment- mostly because she enjoys bouncing them off of things. She only ever bounces them off of one specific wall, mostly because she doesn't particularly care for that neighbor. (There's a picture that she's hung on that wall, to both give herself something to aim for and some modicum of protection from scud marks.)
17. Yes, Claire does smoke like a chimney, but she rarely drinks. Part of this is because her drink of choice is champagne, and it's impractical for her to keep. As for the rest? Have you checked how many calories are in your booze of choice recently? Claire says "too many."
18. While she spent the last 3 months pushing papers, it was mostly considered a courtesy to her, in hopes of pushing her towards administration. She's much better at running things than doing things; busts were made based on connections she made while reorganizing the filing system. (She volunteered for that particular task- the prior system had seriously gotten on her nerves.)
This does not mean that she particularly likes paperwork.
19. If it isn't her preferred shampoo, then her hair isn't clean. Even if the brand is oriented towards giving luster rather than actual cleansing.
20. She still smokes her brother's brand of cigarettes.
