My schedule this week is absolutely hilarious- two days off, a 12-6 shift, and then two days off again. (The break in pay periods fall in the middle, so I work the next five days after tomorrow. I only worked four days "last" week, and several of them were short, but I'm paid about a dollar more an hour than I was over winter break, and I don't really care.)
I'm spending the time effectively- by sleeping a lot and then sleeping some more. And then I've been watching videos on Youtube. I've been meaning to look up early Muppet commercials for years now- I've heard that they had wonderful black humor- but the La Choy dragon was just kind of silly, even if it did have a built in blowtorch. Then I realized that the things I couldn't make out in the Ideal Toys commercials were the puppets threatening to break your legs if you didn't buy them. The Wilson commercials were shallow, but they consisted almost entirely of puppets shooting each other point blank. I approved of that. :]
I dragged my brothers to the zoo today. It was a kind of expensive excursion, not because of the admission ($9 for the three of us,) but rather because snacks in the Waikiki area tend to be somewhat expensive, and we needed the lemonade right then.
The boys had a dentist appointment this morning, and so I waited at Barnes and Noble while they were at it. (I ended up buying the new sequal to Howl's Moving Castle, and I somehow managed to finish it before we got home.) Then, after a quick lunch, we walked from Kahala Mall to the zoo. This makes the entire excursion a Grand Adventure, because I think part of a definition of a grand adventure requires a lengthy journey, preferably on foot. (Bus travel is also acceptable; cars only count if you get a little lost along the way.)
But the whole point of this post is to say that I saw tigers! Three of them! That's more than the last time we went to the zoo, at which point I saw no tigers and the whole excursion was a bit of a let down.
Actually, seeing the tigers was the entire point of the excursion in the first place. We also saw lions and a serval, which was very cute. They were all sleepy, except for the tigers.
