Twenty things about Dana Siu

1. Dana had always wanted to be a police officer. She can't even begin to think of what she would do with herself if she wasn't one.
2. When she was young, Dana used to hide under her closet every New Years. Her mother was always jumpy when the firecrackers went off and the phobia rubbed off onto her daughter. While Dana finds fireworks to be pretty in the theoretical sense, in practice, she wants to be somewhere far, far away.
3. Dana spends her major holidays in clubs, when she can. The music is enough to drown out the noise and the people are distracting.
She mostly spends the time sitting at the bar; Dana knows she can't dance.
4. Dana joined the Junior Police Call soon after its inception. Her mother was not entirely thrilled with her daughters enthusiasm, but her grandfather and uncle were pleased.
5. Dana is surprisingingly skilled at forging handwriting; she learned when she decided that she a style that she saw in a comic one day and was able to copy it perfectly. It's not a talent she often uses, but she isn't afraid to use it when she really needs to.
6. While her mother and her aunt where never the warmest of sisters, they seemed to find plenty of opportunities to stay in contact. As such, Dana and Andrew still saw a lot of each other while they were growing up.
They never really began to collaborate until Andrew dissappeared. Then, Dana found, much to her chargrin, they were a force to be reckoned with.
7. Part of the reason: Dana used to babysit Andrew. She was never paid for it, and to this day, still resents that a little. Luckily, he was a very well behaved child.
At first she was also a bit resentful about the fact that he followed her into law enforcement. Then she realized that any time her mother spent worrying over him was time that she wasn't worrying over her.
8. While on the job, Dana wears no jewellry other than a watch. When off the clock, she has a jade pendant, of which she is very fond.
9. Dana is horrible at cooking, somewhat sloppy at home, and her mother told her to stay away from the washing machine. On the other hands, her files are always meticulously organized.
10. Dana's car is small, cute, and rather unremarkable. It gets excellent milege, considering the amount of traffic that Dana has to deal with every time she uses it.
11. Although she claims most of the cash allowence she chose instead of housing assistance is spent on clothes, a large percentage of it is stashed away in a fund held in trust for her mother, just in case anything happens to her on the job.
12. Dana hasn't been dating anyone recently because her mother and aunt keep setting her up on blind dates. Thanks to them, she doesn't have the free time.
13. Of course she's tried the fake boyfriend ploy. The immediate wedding planning that ensued scared off the friend that she talked into it. They're still on rather touchy terms.
Now that she thinks of it, she really should have known better. The last time she brought a real boyfriend anywhere near her mother, he was scared off - it was a shame; she had rather liked him.
In the event that Dana ever finds somebody that she wants to marry, elopement is beginning to look very tempting. Wedding gifts be damned.
14. Dana still collects stuffed animals, mostly cats. She keeps them hidden in a box in the back of her closet.
15. When she isn't so busy that she has to eat at her desk, Dana usually has a cake set from a nearby cafe for lunch. She usually skips one of the other meals, but she eats lunch more often than not.
16. The only part of the exam that gave Dana trouble was the fitness test.
17. A guilty pleasure: Romance novels and imported shoujo manga.
18. While she claims that she still lives at home so that she doesn't have to do her own laundry, she knows that most of it is because she doesn't want her mother to worry.
19. The rest of it is becuase she knows her mother would call every day, anyway.
20. More than anything else, Dana hates explosions.
