Nov. 29th, 2005 07:12 pmI was kind of sick this weekend. Still am, actually. Furthermore, I twisted my ankle again, but that's better now.
For some reason, I was thinking of Noel Strafield's "Ballet Shoes" (unless it was "Dancing Shoes," I always get them mixed up) where they quote Maurice Maeterlink's "The Blue Bird."
"Pauline still has a pimple on her nose!"
When I went to look it up, it turns out that the Pauline in question happened to be dead.
The Blue Bird was a fairly boring play, but it also shows up in Sakura Taisen II.
When I was younger, I considered Sakura Taisen's Reni Milchestrasse to be my imaginary friend. I've never played the game, though I own a copy. (It's for the Saturn, so it's kind of difficult right now.) I just really love her name.
I suppose I could have thought up an original imaginary friend, but while I can think up scenarios, I have never been very good with physical appearences. Also, I thought Reni's name and personality was kind of interesting.
In my thoughts, we formed a immortal universe-hopping continuity-preserving team (called the "Erinyes," or something similar) with some red-haired girl and um... the other one. I think she was a brunette, I'm not sure. We killed people and had wacky hijinks. Also, I got to blow things up and use chakram (though not always at the same time) so it was a pretty good fantasy.
I gave Reni a TRAGIC PAST where she eventually grows up and gets married to some blond guy and they have a daughter with silver hair and green eyes. One day, soon after her daughter was born, she comes home and finds her husband in the bedroom and the kitchen and the bathroom and the hallway. Also, her daughter has mysteriously gone missing. Oh Noes. Angst ensues. And the cleaning bill was a bitch.
