To my delight, I realized that when you get past the opening battle, you get to choose from one of three routes. Namely Tsuna's, Xanxus', or Chrome's. This is a very difficult decision, but I believe I chose the best one, because 1) although Chrome has horrid health, you get to play as Mukuro and 2) her play style is good for blasting things. So basically, I've been shooting off my long range attack, going 8DDDDDDDDDDDDDD, then running like hell. And then rinse repeat until I kill off whatever computer opponent I'm playing against.
I'm getting the hang of this game- it seems that I can COMPLETELY IGNORE the boxes if I so choose, and for the most part, I so choose. (I figured out how to use and toggle them, but my aim is kind of hilarious, so ahahaha, better off with the things that have better auto-target.) It also occurs to me that trying to navigate this game without a cursory knowledge of Japanese would really suck, because the rings really help and they're distributed randomly.
...actually, I should get out the dream carnival and try to con a kid brother into getting his ass kicked. I enjoy Dream Carnival's mechanics much more, even if I enjoy listening to the voices in this one better. Also, I need to feel less guilty about wanting to skip the intro scenes, because the plot, it is dumb.
