Oct. 16th, 2006 01:29 amIt took me a while after I woke up to actually get out of bed today. (There was a video game involved.) And I was immediately informed that there was a 6.3 earthquake on the Big Island. I wasn't really worried at first, but then I remembered that Tsunamis might be a problem.
It turned out that it was off the coast of the Big Island, which seemed a bit more worrisome.
When I called my parents, the phone didn't work, so I tried my grandparents, who live nearby. I then realized that while cellphones didn't work, the landlines did. I spent the next hour talking to my mom and watching MSNBC, who were running a continuous coverage.
Mom and Dad were okay, but the power was out. I only checked my email a little while ago, but it seems my brother handn't gotten through to them at the time.
Mom scolded me because she heard more from my brother in 2 weeks than she heard from me in 3 years. Should she hope for more natural disasters, so that I might call more often. ^^;;
