Well. I would. :(

PLAYING HIM IS JUST LIKE, OH MY GOD, "CHEER UP EMO KID" DOES NOT EVEN BEGIN TO COVER IT.

That's my goal too, actually. WTB a sense of self esteem for Taren. THAT'S IT.

Circles and circles and circles, really. :')

Thracia needs some kind of plotstuffs. Maybe then we could somehow work with it to make them cover new ground instead of rehashing the same thing over and over and over.

I honestly think they might be able to get somewhere if someone played one or more of his brothers, though. Particularly the one closest to him in age. Who blames him for fucking the family up. Because I dunno, opening old wounds might actually give us a better idea of how to make him get the hell over it or...something. I dunno.

Rere likes that one thing that I told you about. I really like the "Let's find ways to make you miserable" games. They give me good stuff.

The brothers would also help as well, because I'm pretty good at coming up with convoluted mindfuckery, but execution? Doesn't always work well. .____.

I really think he needs to actually deal with his family. Either patch things up with them or actually really dissolve ties with them. Instead they all just kinda disappeared from home one after another and left each other with a boatload of unresolved issues, and I think the lack of closure is part of what makes him so screwed up.

What I really want to do is get the entire Anwar family in for a cage match via magic journal. That would be A++ and maybe after they were all done flipping out at each other they'd work something out.

At the very least, I want Taren to actually talk to Meredith, but as soon as he recognized her he just decided to completely avoid it.

That's the problem with him. He doesn't actually deal with anything. He just tries to sidestep it. -_____-;;

Hm... And the lack of closure will just get worse, because the plotbomb we have planned for Kelyn is all about family ties and responsibility. Because Kelyn takes it incredibly seriously.

With the way it's going down, for him, it is unavoidable. I honestly have no clue what it's going ot do to Taren, who might get dragged into the crossfire. Especially if Kelyn's family comes under suspicion.

We need to get Crys into things more, because we haven't been seeing much of Meredith. Or Hasani. And WTB Jennifer. .________.

I think that's not all of the problem, though. We also need him to actually, I don't know, make decisions. And stick with them. Because I'm sure he can make some very good decisions, if he puts his mind to it.

Maybe if we stuck him somewhere where he'd have to take responsibility.

I'm not sure if seeing a family that actually functions (to some degree... XD) would be good or bad for Taren at this point. Might get him wondering where they went wrong or something. Or he might just be like "well clearly this means I suck even more -_______-;;" and hide in his hole. Though I think possibly a combination of seeing actual family ties, and the other Anwars around might work on him. Because then maybe it'd give Kelyn room to be like "damn, no wonder you're messed up! see, if this and this and this weren't the case..."

I'm not sure if his lack of self-worth or his refusal to trust anyone else is the bigger problem with him, really. BUT I WANT TO TRY AND SOLVE THEM BOTH. :>

definitely, omg. WTB Meredith. If we could just somehow tip her off that oh, this other Taren who happens to have her Taren's birthday IS her son! Because I'd really like to see what happens there. But he couldn't possibly be her son, because of course nobody lies about their age ever! XD

I'm not sure if "functional" would be the appropriate word for it. They kind of function, and make a good show of it, but when you look below the surface, the Teagues definitely have issues. The thing is that the Teagues have taught Kelyn how to hide them, something that Taren has never learned.

The thing is, that the Teagues really do care about each other. So they're trying, it's just that they don't share the same ideals. I imagine a lot of fights behind closed doors, and animosity left unsaid, but still, underneath it all, they really do care about each other. So it's a dysfunctional family that still manages to work out in it's own way.

The fact that they're different from the Anwars might help Taren, though.

I think that unless he learns to trust people, we can't really make progress on the self-worth, because to convince him that he has actual worth, he needs to trust people who tell him that he does.

I'd be tempted to have Kelyn do that. He's not stupid. It's just that after seeing what Meredith's been writing, he's not entirely sure if that's the wisest course of action. So if he sees a bit more of Meredith and maybe some of Taren's other siblings, well, it's not impossible that "why he's so messed up" will occur to Kelyn. (We've managed it in ooc, but that's mostly because ooc let's us jump start the hard questions that they won't even touch in character.)

I WANT TO FIX TAREN, BUT I'M KIND OF SCARED THAT WHAT I'M DOING MIGHT BREAK KELYN, OR AT LEAST REALLY UNSTABLIZE HIM IN THE PROCESS. D:

[identity profile] hezul.livejournal.com 2007-03-29 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
Functional probably isn't the word, yeah, but I think they're more functional than the Anwars. At least they try, instead of all blaming each other for everything, going "fuck you," and leaving home.

And you're probably right. Trust issues come before the self-esteem issues, then.

I WANT TO FIX TAREN WITHOUT FUCKING UP KELYN IN THE PROCESS. HAPPY END PLZ. :(

and man I should've been in bed an hour ago so we can discuss this later.

Yes, and I know what's wrong with Kelyn's family because I deliberately set them up to be that way. I think the major difference we're looking at is that they had a chance to form the bonds that made them want to attempt to function. They also have strong social pressure forcing them in that direction. Which the Anwars don't have.

Yeah, I want a happy ending too, but you know me and my track record with having characters come out intact on the other end. ._______.

(Okay, I've never gotten that far with a character, but you know what I mean.)

lol nobody expects the whore's family to be well-adjusted, so of course they don't bother to try. 8D

WE ARE GOING TO MAKE THINGS WORK OUT FOR THEM. SOMEHOW. ;__;
