You know, I expected that it would have been difficult to sneak a toaster oven into the house, even if it is wrapped, but I did not expect youngest brother to spill the beans 5 minutes into the car ride home.

*had been planning to pass it off as "buying the grandparents a new microwave."*

That said, Mother was somewhat horrified at the fact that our house does not have a toaster oven. "You mean, you use the oven for everything?" It's an electricity issue.

My family has never owned a toaster oven, to my recollection. What's so bad about using the oven? o_o

It's useful if you need to heat something up small that requires a conventional ovens competence but not all of it's space. Saves on electricity- in our house, many things that would ordinarily require an oven can be done in the toaster oven. (Our old one is getting really old, so we bought a new one as "mom and dad's Christmas present." It can fit an entire 12" pizza.

Also, it is very good at making toast with unconventionally-sized pieces of bread. It makes nice grilled cheese sandwiches, too. And roasted garlic. And garlic bread. Small jobs. ♥

Our grandparents got a toaster oven when they moved out, instead of a microwave. After seeing how awesome it was, we got one too. The only bad thing is having to watch it so it wouldn't burnt, if we decided to make toast. If you ever managed to figure out how to hide presents for family members, but first get it into the house secretly, I'd like to know how you do it. I've never been able to do that well. I made a mistake of purchasing a gift for my sister, hiding in a drawer that we NEVER open, and still having her open it weeks before Christmas. Since we share a room, I knew I was taking a risk. But we NEVER open the said drawer, which made the whole situation very annoying.

Everytime I see that icon, part of me thinks for about a tenth of a second that Roflcopter's made an LJ.

...I think that means I need to sleep more.
