NO LOVE

Okay, so apparently neither of our dictionaries contained the term「気合」.

I didn't recognize it until I saw how it was read, but still, AS SOMEONE WHO HAS SPENT TIME BEING SCOLDED FOR NOT HAVING IT, I THINK THAT IT IS SOMETHING THAT WOULD BE SOMEWHAT IMPORTANT TO INCLUDE?

Although it's mostly the Kodansha that's at fault, as the kanji dictionaries are mostly for looking up individual characters. Damn it Kodansha, I HAD FAITH IN YOU. >(

i was all, "oh hey, that's ki and the a from au. so that makes kiau or something, let's go look that....the second one is read as 'ai,' you say? WTF IS WRONG WITH THESE DICTIONARIES."

Because, seriously, translating "kiai" as "concentration" is INADEQUATE. Well, I mean, not for what we're doing, because context, but IF IT WERE IN A DICTIONARY, I MEAN. BUT IT WASN'T. FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIL.

In that context, I believe we're rendering it as something along the lines of "I put too much pressure on them yesterday" or somesuch, which I think works well enough. There are a couple lines I'm still kind of :S over, but that one isn't really one of them.

BUT I AGREE WITH YOU ON GENERAL PRINCIPLE.
