Well, I needed to do something while I was there, didn't I?

20 facts about Nicky Jungvy @
luckymiss.
1. She's not really interested in the money. Or the power.
The ability to be nasty to people and get away with it? That's the only reason she bothers.
2. When she was first sent to the academy, Nikita Jungvy was rather peeved. She knew that the Valhalla academy would be, in the long run, more suited to her interests than the theatrics of Jungvy's Ulir college, but the fact was that she knew how to escape to find time for herself at home, and Valhalla was unfamiliar territory. The fact that her parents had marriage in mind did not help at all.
That said, she knows that the time she spent there served her well. Valhalla gave her the velvet glove to sheath her steel in, regardless of the fact that she usually doesn't bother with it.
3. Nicky likes to think of herself as above house politics, although she doesn't turn down stories if someone happens to tell. And if people happen to gossip near one of her favorite nooks, well, that's their problem.
4. Nicky picked up her love of romance novels from her first roommate at the academy. She was bored. The books were there. She thought that they were kind of silly, but she kept reading them.
This was also the source of Nicky's love of toffee. Snitched candy tastes sweeter, after all.
5. As much as she hates formal clothing, Nicky loves to collect jewelery. She has a good eye for pieces, and, despite the fact that it rarely sees use, has a fairly impressive collection. Much of the time that she spent sneaking off while at the Academy was spent browsing through the gem markets. Most of her pocket money went to starting her collection.
6. Nicky's father oversees one of the Jungvy family's casinos. Nicky's mother is basically arm candy. When she was born, her parents were 17 and 16, respectively. This was the first time that she let them down.
It's a bit of a dilemma for them. While she has achieved success, success that they could gain recognition for, it's not quite the form that they had in mind. They think that she could do more if she had only applied herself. Nicky thinks that what they think doesn't matter anymore.
7. It's not that Nicky dislikes her name. It's just that between "Nikita" and "Nicky," one is considerably easier to write and say. Incidentally, while her parents hate her nickname, her younger siblings won't call her anything else.
True story: Nikita was named after a romance novel that her mother loved. This is only interest that the two share.
Nicky has never read it. It truly was a horrible book.
8. Nicky has a fairly amiable relationship with her younger siblings. While the relationship could have been strained, the fact that she has been a constant disappointment to her parents for years made for a lovely distraction from any of their own shortcomings.
There is a 7 year gap between Nicky and her closest sibling, a boy, and an 15 year gap from the youngest, a girl. Two of Nicky's siblings are married, both to spouses from very nice, very rich families outside of the Ulir bloodline. Her oldest brother is being groomed to take over from their father. Her married sister lives in Valhalla.
9. Actually, Nicky did get along with her first roommate as well. Unfortunately, the girl eloped midway through their second year. Nicky never did find out what became of her.
Her second roommate was a heinous bitch. (Nicky was richer and had bluer blood, but the thing about the Jungvy name was that if you aren't an actual member of the family, it can be difficult at times to tell exactly how important a person you are dealing with.)
(There were also the inbred jokes, but it wasn't Nicky's fault that her parents were both second and third cousins. At least, she thinks that's what it was.)
10. Nicky was "volunteered" to work for the family in order to get her closer to Variel or, barring that, to at least see if they couldn't get her married off sooner. Power one way or another, after all. Nicky ignored the instructions, naturally.
11. Nicky started to learn about the house's secrets the summer she turned twelve from a crotchety, but not particularly old, aunt. She was a still rather contrary child at the time, but she was still able to know an obviously good thing when it was offered to her.
The lessons were mostly of the "I'll show you this once and you better remember it" variety. Luckily, both Nicky and Seth, who had joined a year later, were both very quick on the uptake.
Six years ago, said aunt died under mysterious circumstances, explained away as "child birth," despite the fact that she had shown no sign of being pregnant. Nicky later learned that the explanation really was the truth, though no one was particularly sure of who the father was.
12. Nicky inhabits the same suite that her favorite aunt did. She had to kick someone out to get it, but she thinks that it was definitely worth it.
13. Would Nicky die for her family? This would depend on the situation at hand, and who would be the one saved. If it was Variel? Of course. Anybody else, and the answer isn't quite as certain.
Would Nicky kill for her family? Oh yes.
14. Nicky has a secret fondness for fresh fruit. The more exotic, the better.
15. While Nicky was throughly fed up with boys during her days at the academy, this was largely because she found the politics to be rather tiresome.
She managed to escape with a mostly intact reputation- she never really slept with anyone actually attending the school, and Variel was the only one who really got to hear about what she's been up to.
These days, she finds that some of the men shes meets are interesting enough to actually want to be around for extended periods of time but she finds the idea of serious commitment disturbing. that would change things. She doesn't want that.
16. Nicky believes in her luck, but that doesn't mean that she doesn't have a rather impressive supply of herbs. And she checks out her partners before she does anything rash. There's a difference between the days she goes out to get sloshed and when she goes out to get laid.
There's luck and there's foolishness; Nicky knows that.
17. Nicky has always had a soft spot for cute helpless things. She used to wish that she could take home the stray cats and dogs she'd come across in the streets. She'd steer clear of beggars, but she was the driving force behind Jungvy's latest orphanage. It's mostly about the feeling of superiority she gets.
That's probably the reason she likes Variel.
Actually, it's a bit more than likes but she'd never admit it. She doesn't know why the marriage upsets her- she was backing Rhiannon, after all.
18. Nicky never did see a reason to bribe Seth, although she did buy him presents on appropriate occasions in respect for the fact that he was a somewhat tolerable person. Well, that and the fact that he was her friend, after all.
That said, if it's at all possible, Nicky tends to buy gifts that really benefit herself. She thinks that they are the best kind.
19. Even though Nicky generally dresses like a tomboy, she still thinks that she would like to be swept off her feet.
20. Nicky still thinks that romance novels are kind of silly. Still, she has yet to kick the habit.
Neon, Val, let me know if anything conflicts with your canon.
